Timber framing is one of the oldest techniques still used in modern construction. It can be seen most commonly in the barns of this area. It incorporates large milled, hand hewn timbers or round logs fastened with wooden joinery and oak pegs, requiring no metal fasteners to hold it all together. Once the frame is constructed it can be roofed and sided with any available material or left uncovered to let the beauty of the frame speak for itself. It can be built from many species of wood, pine being the most common for indoor applications and cedar for outdoors as it is extremely resistant to the elements. Both species are available locally.
Here at humble home we are able to pre-fabricate your frame in our shop, ship it to your door and assemble it onsite. We specialize in round, curved, unique logs but can cut a straight milled frame with no problem at all.
Some common applications are gazebos, pergolas and sheds. Wither you’re looking to add a focal point to your outdoor space, creating shade, sheltering yourself from the sun, wind, rain, bugs or just need more room for storage, Timber Frames are a natural, local and beautiful option for your home.
